Product: HP 15-1049wm
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
Factory Reset: Factory Reset removes all partitions, reformats the entire hard drive, reinstalls the original operating system, and reinstalls all the original hardware drivers and software. This option also recreates the required Recovery partition (usually D:) and reinstalls the required software. The factory reset recreates the required Recover Partition (usually D:) and all other required partitions.
The Factory Reset option returns all of the computer's software to the condition it was in at the time of purchase. All user changes or additions are removed
This is in a perfect world
my laptop begs me everyday for a boot device and says, please install an operating system
since i do not know if it is 32 or 64, using media creation tool , made a copy of windows 8.1 32 using flash drive using my old laptop
will not do anything as of yet when putting it in my dead laptop. in system config can bring up boot options, but does not list option of recovery usb boot, as listed in the HP recovery info
also , first on the list of things to do is: remove all internal media, is this a trick
I was using the auto recovery tool and was almost half way done, when it shut down. It had passed memory tests ect, cause has not been used since 2014
If I change the boot settings and try to load from the flash, it says I will have to have the invisible product key
If I somehow ask HP support, and talk to a real person, can't they just send me a cd
Would really like to fix it myself, but don"t know what I'm doing, even though learning much in the forum
Thank-you techs for trying to help me

Hi,
https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-15-f000-notebook-pc-series/7137590/model/7311084/document/c0...
Your laptop came with Windows 8.1 with Bing (64-bit)
You cannot clean install Windows 8.1 because Microsoft has not released Bing edition
You can only do a recovery using HP recovery media
You could buy HP recovery media:
http://computersurgeons.com/p-23494-windows-81-64-bit-usb-recovery-kit-785699-001-for-hp-notebook-pc...
Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04763947
If you've upgraded to Windows 10, then you've option to clean install Windows 10 Home
You've to disable secure boot before changing boot order to USB.
