Failed to start after SSD Upgrade

I got suggestion for my first post on Upgrade SSD on HP 14-dq1033cl

I cloned existing SSD to new Crucial P1 1TB 3D NAND NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. But Laptop failed to boot.

Showing following screen

How can I fix this ? Do I need any SSD drives for Crucial SSD to work ?

Any help appreciated.

Hi:

The only suggestions I can offer are:

1. Create bootable installation media using the HP cloud recovery tool.  This will install the factory image on the PC.

2. Clean install W10 by making bootable installation media using the Media creation tool at the link below...

After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page...

W10 should have the NVMe drivers necessary for the drive to work.

With first option disk creation was failing.

I performed fresh windows installation. But now Unable to install drivers because Windows 10 started in S mode and cant turn off S mode with out internet, cant connect to internet because it need WLAN driver, which I cant install because of S mode.

How to get pass this situation ?

I thought that W10 in S mode is supposed to install all of the drivers automatically.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how you get out of S-Mode when you can't connect to the internet, and go to the Windows Store.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to try this...You are going to need another Windows PC for this...

It's only going to work if you can plug in a USB flash drive and copy a file folder to your W10-S mode PC.

Hopefully W10-S installed the USB driver.

Download and install 7-zip on the PC you are going to do this experiment with.

One of the first two links depending on 32 or 64 bit.

Next...download and save the wifi driver for your model...Do not run the file.

After you saved the file, right click on it and select 7-Zip from the list of items on the menu.

Have 7-Zip Extract to:  and let it extract the file into its folder name (sp98918).

Copy that folder to a USB flash drive, plug the flash drive into your W10-S PC and copy the folder to one of the folders in your user profile.  I usually copy stuff like this to my Downloads folder.  Anyway, which folder doesn't much matter.

Once you do that, go to the device manager, click on the device you see labeled as a Network Controller.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the location where you saved the sp98918 driver folder.

Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked, cross your fingers and hopefully the wifi driver will install.

If it does, then you can take it from there.  You may want to consider switching out of S mode so that you have more flexibility.

Windows 10 In S mode doesnt allow me to install driver which I downloaded on another computer and transferred using USB drive.

The process you mentioned, windows is not detecting the drivers at all.

Before I give up on this, please post the hardware ID for the network controller.

Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device.

I want to make sure that ID was supported by the driver I gave you.

Is it possible get internet via USB tethering to iPhone  without installing any driver/software ?

Yes, unfortunately that ID is present in the driver folder...

Try one more thing...follow the above steps but this time when you get to the Browse my computer for driver software option, at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

Click on Have Disk and browse to the sp98918 driver folder you copied to your PC>src>RTWLANE_Driver>Win10X64, select the netrtwlane setup information file, click Next, and see if the driver installs that way.

If by some miracle you can connect your phone via USB cable and W10S will install the driver for it, you may be able to use your phone to connect to the internet.

You don't want to select anything from that list, and if you want to experiment with the vendor list, you need to find the wifi adapter in the Realtek vendor, or Realtek Semiconductor vendor list in your screenshot.

Then you need to find and select the Realtek RTL8822CE AC wifi adapter if it is listed.

Click on the Have Disk button at the bottom right side of that window and browse to the setup information file I posted.

I'll repeat the directions here...

Click on Have Disk and browse to the sp98918 driver folder you copied to your PC>src>RTWLANE_Driver>Win10X64, select the netrtwlane setup information file, click Next, and see if the driver installs that way.
