Failing to reset my hp stream laptop

I am trying to reset my laptop but the process keeps failing and saying that there was an issue and unable to reset the laptop, I found an answer to a similar question online but it provided a link that was old. Please help!

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble resetting your HP Stream 14. If you are encountering issues while attempting to reset the device, there are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you through the process.

Backup important data (if possible): Before attempting a reset, it's a good idea to back up any important files or data that you have on the device. A reset might erase all the data on the laptop, so it's better to be safe.

Perform a Hard Reset: Sometimes, a hard reset can resolve issues with the laptop. To do this, follow these steps: 

a. Turn off the laptop completely. 

b. Unplug the power adapter. 

c. Remove the battery (if possible, as some HP Stream models have non-removable batteries). 

d. Hold down the power button for at least 15 seconds. 

e. Reconnect the battery (if removed) and the power adapter. f. Turn on the laptop and check if the reset process works now.

Use Windows Settings to Reset: If the hard reset didn't work, you can try resetting the laptop using the Windows Settings. Here's how: 

a. Click on the "Start" button and go to "Settings" (the gear icon). 

b. In the Settings window, select "Update & Security." 

c. Go to the "Recovery" tab in the left menu. 

d. Under "Reset this PC," click on "Get started." 

e. Choose whether you want to keep your files or remove everything (select "Remove everything" if you want a complete reset). 

f. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset process.

Reset from Boot Menu: If the above methods don't work, you can try resetting the laptop from the boot menu. Here's how: 

a. Turn off the laptop completely. 

b. Turn it back on and repeatedly press the "F11" key until the "Choose an option" screen appears.

Recovery Drive or Installation Media: If none of the above methods work, you can try using a recovery drive or Windows installation media to reset the laptop. 

a. You'll need a USB flash drive with at least 8GB of storage space. 

b. Create a Windows installation media using another computer by following Microsoft's official guide: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 

c. Insert the recovery drive or installation media into the HP Stream 14 and restart it. 

d. Boot from the USB drive (you may need to press a specific key, like F12 or Esc, during startup to access the boot menu). 

e. Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Windows, and this will effectively reset the laptop.
