Sadly to say: Most of the time the 24 char disk failure id indicates the HDD is failing and it needs to be replaced. Is it still under warranty ? If Yes, please call HP for a replacement.

HP Recommended

I don't believe it is still under warranty. The computer was given to me, and had no cord or disks with it. The operating system is windows 8
