HP Spectre x360 (2019 version)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello guys,

I'm experiencing a depressing fast battery drain on my HP Spectre x360 (2019 version). The manufacturer claimed that the laptop can be active up to 22 hours, however, the best I can reach is 5.5 hours, which is far away from the claim. The battery decreases by 10% every 30 mins. Moreover, that's the case when I set the display to FHD and 50% brightness with youtube video playing only. Not to mention when I used the highest resolution before (4k), I could only last under 5 hours. I run the Battery Check in HP Support Assistant to find out the problem, but it tells me that the battery is ok. I tried to turn off background app, Bluetooth and location but they don't help much. Please help me out. Is there any way to improve my battery life? I'm so desperate now because I have passed the return period a couple of days, and it's less than a month-old laptop.

@vivienne98

You DO realize that Video Streaming, since it uses up GPU cycles, is one of the fastest way to wear down batteries, right?

For a more accurate test of battery usage, then stop the streaming and see how long it lasts with only LOCAL work being done -- that is, NOT doing anything that involves the Internet.

I've heard that disabling HDR capabilities while on battery can have a huge effect on extending battery life.  I'm having the same battery life issues with the same laptop as you @vivienne98.  I'm going to turn HDR off while on battery to see if it makes a difference as well as disable location and bluetooth as you suggested.
