HP Probook G2 640
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi all,

I'm having issues trying to use the fingerpint reader.

Notebook is an HP Probook g2 640 and I've instaled the drivers suggested by HP in the Support forum (Synaptics WBF).

Anyway, when I try to run the Synaptics app, this is the error.

"The Digital fingerprint reader is not detected. Please make sure the sensor is configured correctly and try again".

Also, in the Device Manager, I cannot find any "Biometric" information.

Do I need to install any other driver from Windows 7 first?

Any help will be appreciated. Cheers

Hello @PabloC,

Please go to BIOS screen by tapping F10 at the start.

Go to ADVANCED Tab and select Built-in Device options.

Scroll down and look for Finger print device as shown in the below pic. Make sure there is a TICK.

Thanks for the quick feedback.

The option you are mentioning is not in the BIOS.

Please, take a look at my menus.

After inspecing it, I've noticed it is a gray plastic, and not the fingerprint reader. Sorry for asking.

Thanks for your great help anyway
