I have a envy ×360 laptop i forgot it's password and pin when i tried to login through pin it disabled fingerprint option.I tried a lot of ways to gain finger print access by not using the laptop for 5days .But it still shows that pin is required to sign in.Plus it has bitlocker for which i don't have recovery key,it's a local account

Hi @gpriyareddy,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for reaching out. I understand you're locked out of your HP Envy x360 laptop due to a forgotten password and PIN, and now the fingerprint login is disabled. Additionally, your device is protected by BitLocker, and you don’t have the recovery key. Since you're using a local account, recovery options are limited, but I’ll guide you through what can be done.
What You Can Try:
- Check for BitLocker Recovery Key
- Even if you think you don’t have it, try checking:
- HP PCs - Using BitLocker and finding the recovery key (Windows 11, 10) | HP® Support)
- USB drives or printed documents (if you saved the key manually)
- Your organization's IT admin (if it’s a work/school device)
- Even if you think you don’t have it, try checking:
- Use Safe Mode to Access the System
- Power off the laptop.
- Turn it on and immediately press F11 repeatedly to enter Recovery Mode.
- Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart.
- After the restart, press 4 to enter Safe Mode.
- If successful, try logging in with your local account password (not PIN).
- Use Command Prompt to Enable Built-in Admin (if accessible)
- In Recovery Mode, go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Command Prompt.
- Type: net user administrator /active:yes
- Restart and try logging in with the Administrator account.
- If All Else Fails: System Reset
- If you cannot recover the BitLocker key, unfortunately, the only option may be to reset the PC, which will erase all data:
- From Recovery Mode: Troubleshoot > Reset this PC > Remove everything.
- If you cannot recover the BitLocker key, unfortunately, the only option may be to reset the PC, which will erase all data:
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
