Hi, i have a problem with the bios key. I'm a teacher and we have a technology class. We took old notebooks from the company and some of them had bios keys. The leptop specifications ;HP Elitebook 2540p model. The PC gives a blue screen when it starts and it is not opening. I cannot format the disk cos i can't achieve the bios menus. So i'm not able to change boot menu.

We want to use this pc at our class. What can we do in this position? Thank you ...photo_2019-11-01_14-31-23.jpgphoto_2019-11-01_14-31-26.jpg

Hi:

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to help you, since HP will no longer supply the required SMC.bin file that is used to clear the BIOS password.

That was the only way it could be done.

Removing the CMOS battery will not clear the P/W.

HP issued this document recently...

Also the forum rules were amended on 1 March 2019, which no longer allow us to help with removing passwords.

Rule 4.d...

d. No posts shall include instructions or directions intended to bypass or subvert security measures, including passwords, locking mechanisms, fingerprint scans, etc., or to bypass any safety measures.
