I have a technical problem in that I can not access any SD card plugged in via the built-in card reader or via an external USB card reader. I am told I don't have permission to access that folder. It's the same with any SD or CF card I try to plug in. Cards work fine in other computers.  I've tried every method under the sun (registry editing, disabling HP Sure Click,  reinstalling drivers etc etc) that I can find online and nothing works.

Anyway, I want to get technical support on this problem but when I go through the HP portal I am greeted wit the following screen:

It's driving me insane because every time I try to go down one route of solving this problem, I'm faced with another problem!!! Someone please help!

That is really messed up. Sorry I have no idea what is causing it,but have reported it. Do you have HP Support Assistant installed? If so open it and look at top for Support tab. That should give you direct contact options.

Or try phone support:

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
