Did the window update , seemed to be successful. I did a few things then closed the lid. When I opened the lid later in the day, it went to H/P Prepairing Automatic repair only running for 2 seconds and then it keeps repeating. I have Googled the problem but not sure what to do. I ran H/P mainframes in the 80s & 90s but my friend left on vacation. HELP

It's frustrating to encounter an automatic repair loop on your HP Pavilion, especially after a seemingly successful Windows update. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off your laptop completely.
- Disconnect any external devices (USBs, printers, etc.).
- Remove the battery (if detachable) and disconnect the AC adapter.
- Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and AC adapter.
- Turn on your laptop.
Step 2: Boot into Safe Mode
- Turn off your laptop completely.
- Turn it on and immediately start pressing F8 repeatedly until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears.
- Select Safe Mode with Networking using the arrow keys and press Enter.
- If successfully booted into Safe Mode, you can uninstall the recent update that may have caused the loop.
Step 3: Use Startup Repair
- Turn off your laptop completely.
- Turn it on and immediately start pressing F11 repeatedly to open the HP System Recovery.
- Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to let Windows attempt to repair the startup issues.
Step 4: Use System Restore
- Turn off your laptop completely.
- Turn it on and immediately start pressing F11 repeatedly to open the HP System Recovery.
- Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to restore your system to a previous point before the update.
