Product: HP Pavilion - 15-cc023cl
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My computer is running slowly much of the time.  C: is 917GB  😧 (Recovery) is 13GB and only has 1.56 GB free.  When I look at Task Manager, it shows HDD usage at 100% most of the time.  What can I do to fix this?

Spell check or something changed d drive to a face icon rather than D :  which is the (Recovery) partition of my HDD.

The information in Task Manger reflects the "utilization" of the drive -- the workload imposed on it -- not the "usage" of the drive -- the amount of space used.  This means something is using your drive a LOT.  MS pushes out Windows Updates every Tuesday, so TODAY, all my Win10 PCs got an update and all of them maxed out at 100% for a while.

 

What you can try is going into Task Manager, selecting the Startup tab, making note of which ones are currently Enabled, and then disable ALL of them and reboot.  If that addresses the utilization issue, then one of those tasks you disabled is hogging the processor, and you would have to re-enable one at a time to find out which one.

And what, if anything, should/could I do about the D (Recovery) partition being so close to being full and would it help if I did something?
