Hi
While I was using my Notebook, it suddenly went off and would not boot again. I got an error 0xc000000f and I was asked to insert the windows installation disc and restart the computer. I did that and tried to repair windows but nothing happened. I even tried to connect the boot files (bcd) with windows but i could not find the usual windows files, instead I found this d:\$window~BT. So now, my computer does not boot and does not have the usual windows file. What am I supposed to do.
HP Elite Probook 2570p Notebook PC
Product Model C9E79UC
I do have the reload DVDs (2 for drivers) and one for Windows reload totally 3.
Help will be appreciated. Thanks

Hi,
I find it strange... in my opinion if you live in Australia and if you purchased the computer from Australia, you should contact HP Support for Australia. I guess there must have happen some mistake and you should talk to HP Support for Australia, not for US.
Yes, it's understandable that the HP US support won't ship discs to Australia but HP Australian support should be able to advice.
HP has different policies and practises for different countries. In some countries discs (recovery media) is provided by HP partners for the country.
I suggest you contact HP Australian support and insist on having local support because you live in Australian and the PC is purchased from Australia.
You may also check with the local HP partners:
Search for Melbourne, Australia
Choose "Partner expertise"
you should end up here with list of local 20 companies partners.
Let me know if they can provide you assistance. If not, please post.

Hello,
Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum.
I am sorry for your problem you experience now.
As a precaution, I'd strongly recommend you first test your PC for hardware problems. You can test your HDD and RAM. Here is how:
>> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02097000
If the tests passed fine, then proceed to Windows recovery. As you have the recovery media, this is great as this will speed the process a lot. Here are instructions:
>>>> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01867418
>>>> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01867418#AbT4
Here is also a video example >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFBWPmy32ms
Hopefully, this will work and your PC will be back to normal - restored to factory default condition.
Let me know how it goes.

OK,
Do you confirm you performed hardware checks and they passed without errors ?
Based on information from Microsoft, error 0x80070017 means that your recovery media is missing certain important files - may be corrupt or not created properly.
Where do you have these recovery ("reload") discs from ? What is written on them ?

Hi
Thanks again for your revert. I downloaded these from my sisters laptop she has exactly the same as mine (we bought them together in Feb this year).
Yes, the hard drive passed all tests so there is no issue with the harddrive. Do you know if I can purchase this from elsewhere ?
Thanks again for your help

You are welcome !
Your device is a bit older and i am not sure about recovery media.
Did you buy it new or a second hand (refurbished) ?
Does it have a COA sticker with Win 7 code attached to it (usually on the down side or behind the battery) ?
Did your notebook come with Windows 7 preinstalled (already installed) on it ? If yes,you can contact HP business support to see if they can offer you original recovery media for this computer (a.k.a. recovery DVDs or USB).

If there is no recovery media at HP, you can try to contact
http://www.best2serve.com/page/rcd_landing OR http://www.computersurgeons.com/
to see if they can offer you such recovery media

Hi
Thanks or your reply.
My laptop is brand new and not refurbished. I bought it in Australia but apparently the serial number is of the US ! I called HP support for their help and after a long conversation and trials with a girl on the phone, I was told that I needed the recovery discs. However I was told that they could not send me a set as the laptop was from the US, I even told her that I dont think it should make a difference if the laptop was from different countries and the product number was the same. However she insisted that they could not send me the discs. She told me to get in touch with the place I bought it from and ask them to send you a set. I contacted the place I bought the laptop from and asked them to send me a copy of the discs. They in turned returned back saying they dont have the discs 🙂 and asked me to send the laptop to them. I refused to send the laptop by post from Sydney to Melbourne. I evev asked them what they would do with the laptop if they did not have the discs. I got a reply 'the technicians will have a look at it'.
My laptop has the Win 7 25 digit code. Do you know of any other place who has the recovery discs. If you know of any other company that has the recovery discs can you please post as my product is not on the two you sent.
Thanks again for your help.
