Hi @PJBL1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you want to wipe your HP computer clean, there are a few steps you can follow.

  • Back up important data: Before you wipe your computer, make sure to back up any important data, such as documents, pictures, music, and videos, to an external hard drive, USB flash drive, or cloud storage service.
  • Create a recovery disk or USB drive: You can create a recovery disk or USB drive from your HP computer using the built-in HP Recovery Manager. This will allow you to restore your computer to its original factory settings if needed.
  • Boot from the recovery disk or USB drive: Insert the recovery disk or USB drive into your HP computer and restart it. When the HP logo appears, press the F9 key to enter the boot options menu. Select the recovery disk or USB drive and press Enter to boot from it.
  • Choose the wipe option: When the recovery program launches, select the option to wipe your hard drive or perform a clean install. This will erase all data from your computer, including the operating system.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions: The recovery program will guide you through the process of wiping your hard drive and reinstalling the operating system. Make sure to follow the on-screen instructions carefully.
  • Reinstall programs and restore data: After the wipe is complete, you will need to reinstall any programs you want to use and restore your data from your backup.

It's important to note that wiping your computer clean will permanently erase all data from your hard drive. Make sure to back up any important data before proceeding.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
