Hi:

You should be able to use the XP x64 drivers from the HP 4540s business class notebook, except the Audio.

You can use the XP audio driver directly from Realtek...

Thank you Paul. Its awesome that you have tried to provide a solution.

Your answer inspired me to search for drivers for my HP compaq 2009 VSFF (small Pc) and I found Windows XP drivers for it on the HP website itself. So happy to have found it.

Since a long time I have been trying to find Windows XP compatible HP laptops / Acer laptops.

The said machine HP 2000-2d22DX is available at a dirt cheap price near my place and thats why this query arised as i intend to run windows XP on it.

HP 2000-2d22DX uses 3rd gen Intel Core i3-3120M with an Intel HD graphics 4000, Somehow cant find which chipset model is being used (phew !)

HP probook 4540s uses 2nd gen or 3rd gen but diff processor number, same graphics i.e Intel HD graphics 4000
Refer here https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03349886#AbT2

I am not a pro at using computers, but Unsure if so many other drivers will work but i guess will have to test them. How did you arrive that 4540s drivers may work for 2000-2d22dx ?

The HP probook 4540s seems to be designed that Windows xp could run and hence probably drivers are available on HP website.  I always thought that since Win Xp is unsupported, its drivers must have been deleted from original websites for all HP models.

Is there a listing available online of series of laptops that run windows XP nicely. i believe that laptops released in 2011/2012 were the last ones to run WXP.  Are windows XP compatible laptops still available in markets?

You're very welcome.

HP supplied XP drivers for most of their business class notebook and desktop PC's as long as Windows XP was supported to run on those PC's.

The 4540s has the same Intel series 7 chipset as yours and uses Intel 3rd gen core processors like yours.

All the drivers should work except the Audio because the 4540s uses the IDT audio chip, and I forgot..the 4540s uses a different model SD card reader.

So...I'm thinking the rest of the drivers should work fine.

You may have to manually install the Intel graphics driver if the auto install doesn't work.

You can download the Realtek XP SD card reader from the link below...you want the first file listed on the webpage.

Download, unzip and run the setup application.

The 4540s notebook was the last business class notebook that could run XP.

Theoretically you can run XP just fine on your notebook since the Intel series 7 chipset was the last chipset supported by Intel for Windows XP.

Any PC with an Intel series 8 chipset or newer cannot run XP correctly, because there are no drivers.

Basically, no notebook or PC made in 2013 or later can run XP.
