It says that the HP 255 G10 can only be upgraded to a 2TB M.2 drive. Is this true, or is it just a setting thing in the BIOS? I have a 4TB m.2 that I would like to upgrade to, but will the BIOS see it if it is installed?

Don't worry, just install the 4TB M.2 SSD in your laptop's slot, and it will work. Theoretically, UEFI BIOS supports up to 8TB. HP's 1-2TB spec is just tested max, not a hard limit. So It doesn't mean larger drives won't work; they often do with high success rates, though there's always a small chance of compatibility issues.
Since you already have the 4TB SSD for the M.2 slot, go ahead, install it, and enjoy. It will likely work fine.
