Version 3.8.0.0
An important System BIOS update is available.
Do not shut down or remove power from your computer during the process.

At the bottom are three options: Apply Update Now, Postpone Update, Cancel Update.
Apply Update Now appears to be selected as the other two are black boxes and Apply Update Now’s box is greyed out. The fan is running currently. What should I do?

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.
As you said, "At the bottom are three options: Apply Update Now, Postpone Update, Cancel Update."
Try selecting Postpone Update or Cancel Update and check if it gets back to windows.
If the issue persists, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02693833 and follow Step 1: Recover the last working BIOS version
Keep me posted, how it goes!

My understanding is that @clarbi had selected "Apply Update Now" and the update process had hung. If so, the only way out is likely to be holding the power button down until power is removed - and praying that there is still a functioning BIOS on the computer. If not, then it is down to any recovery process that is supported by the system in this scenario, exchange (if available) or warranty service.

@Rajdjal : I don't work for HP - I'm just another user. All I can do is offer generic advice in this scenario. If the BIOS update has not completed after several days, it is a case of relying on the recovery mode if the system won't boot after being power cycled. If recovery won't work, it will take some sort of repair.
I would encourage you to phone HP support if possible, so that you can troubleshoot with an engineer over the phone.

Sorry I clicked on the wrong button
For general information, I did the update and everything went well
However, I do find that HP's comunication on such a important subject as a BIOS update to be really lacking. In fact there is basically no info on this, so I'm still left wondering if I've been hacked.
