Late last year, one of our teachers reported that a Chromebook 14 was smoking in the cart. When we invested we found the Chromebook power recharging port burnt and smelly, and the plastic post in the middle was gone. Due to this safety issue, we went through our HP Chromebook 14 inventory and found over 40 power ports with the port plastic post broken or missing. Therefore, we pulled all of them from the carts. We found that Screen Surgeon could get us the parts, so we ordered from them. We just finished replacing the 40 Chromebook 14 power ports. The HP part number is 99736-Y57, REV B. We also had to purchase more, because we found more damaged Chromebook power ports.
