HP chromebook 14
Chrome OS

My HP Chromebook 14 won't turn on.  I have tried standard and hard/factory resets with and without AC power (the integrity of which I have confirmed) and without peripherals connected with absolutely no response. No display, no charge led, no booting sounds, or error message. It was working fine and was charged 2 hours ago when I closed it, and I can't think of anything else to do.

Help.

Is it still in warranty?

If it is , then you can contact HP and have the repair effected under warranty.

If no longer in warranty there is a method on Youtube that does work. I have to use it on my own Chromebook 11 once in a while.  I will look for the link and put it here.

Don't be dissuaded by how young the kid in the video is. He knows what he is doing.

The Chromebook was purchased refurbished, and I'm fairly certain the warranty has since expired.

I had considered trying this method, but I wanted to check if there was and easier solution first. Unfortunately, I won't have time to try this until tonight. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks!

Success! I opened it up (which I had done a few times with the same model) and disconnected the battery, plugged it in, and turned it on. It booted up normally and the damage was no worse than that of a crash or dead battery. I was able to reattach the battery mere seconds after plugging in the power supply (the computer could also potentially run without a battery, if connected directly to power).
