Got my daughter and HP 14 Chromebook for Christmas fresh out of the box it's been stuck updating for the past two days and it still won't update I mean that's fresh out of the box what's wrong with it?

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP Chromebook 11. I understand that it does not charge and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

 

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well.

 

Perform an EC reset

 

Follow these steps to perform an EC reset.

Press and hold the Power and Refresh buttons for three seconds.

The laptop turns off, and then back on.

 

Perform a hard reset.

allow these steps to perform a hard reset and restart the computer.

Simultaneously press the Power, Refresh, and Esc buttons, and then hold for five seconds to perform a hard reset.

The laptop turns off and on again.
