I am trying to create a recovery USB using HP Cloud recovery tool. After typing the product ID, I get a message that Product ID is invalid. My system runs Windows 10 Home version.

Hi

Not knowing what you want to achieve, I cannot really help.

IF you want to get the Cloud Recovery Tool working, since it doesn't work for me, I cannot help.

However IF you want a USB that you can use to Repair/Recover/Rebuild/Re-Install, then perhaps I can offer guidance.

You make an 8 GB USB flash drive using the Microsoft Tool.

Create Windows 10 installation media

To get started, you will first need to have a license to install Windows 10. You can then download and run the media creation tool. For more information on how to use the tool, see the instructions below.

Then you can add a Directory/Folder named HP_Drvrs to it, and fill that DIR with appropriate software.

The file structure on the USB will closely resemble my X: file structure.

So what do you want to achieve?

Hi

From 2016 onwards there is a possible recovery option via the cloud...
HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 7 & 10)
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06162205
OR

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

I think the product key may be the SKU:

Results for "Pavilion x360 convertible" (41)

SKU: if possible by this method
WinKey + R and type
msinfo32
Read Line 9
System SKU: N6K07EA#ABU

If in doubt please ask.

Many thanks for your response. I checked msinfo32. The product ID (printed on back cover of notebook) is the same as SKU, as you rightly pointed out. However, I keep getting the same error message.

Should I uninstall and then re-install HP cloud recovery tool?

HP Recommended

No

Because you can make a 'modern' version. Make the W10 version from Microsoft and add in the HP drivers.

What is the SKU of your PC?

OR

Like me you are unlucky...

If the message Product ID is Not Match or Invalid. Check the "I need to enter Product ID for my HP system" and manually fill Product ID in. displays, your device is not yet available in the Cloud Recovery Tool. Go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads for other available recovery options.

So my hand crafted version is this..

X:\>dir

Sorry for sounding ignorant. But I didn't understand your solution. Do I run these commands? Could you explain. Thanks.

Hello, I mentioned this issue to my HP dealer, and he said that I should re-try HP cloud recovery tool after a month of purchase. Apparently, by that time, the HP cloud is updated with the new system details. Not sure whether that is right, anyway, I did that and it is working. Could create recovery USB with no problem.

Just thought I'd share my experience on this forum.
