Hi, the files on RECOVERY (D:) have all been deleted. I would like to obtain all the files to make sure I can perform a factory reset back to the default status as it left the factory. Can I download these files from HP please? John.

Hello @jannerboy
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Check this TKB article >> https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Knowledge-Base/Recovery-in-Windows-10/ta-p/7061284
HP Recovery Manager and these kinds of recovery are kind of obsolete now.
For recovery options, you may use:
- HP Cloud recovery (free) if your model is supported >> https://support.hp.com/vn-en/document/c06162205
- From Microsoft - (free) perform fresh clean Windows 10 installation (my recommended choice) >> https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Recovery-disks-not-working-on-l...
- Order HP recovery media (paid / if available) >> https://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/bph07143
Hope this helps.

Hi, so I have downloaded ALL drivers in preparation for the full format. However, there are some options within the drivers dependant on which hardware is fitted. Is there a recommended software that I can use to interrogate the whole PC that will tell me all of the details of the hardware? Something i can run and it provides a report? Thanks John

You can download and see if Speccy (from CCleaner/Piriform) or AIDA64 can help you - they are the popular and comprehensive software to display all the hardware components.
Additionally, you may check Control Panel -> Device Manager
If you attempt to install driver which is not meant for your manager, it will generate some sort of an error or message and you will understand that for sure.
Additional methods to update drivers in Windows 8.1 or 10 >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03330139
Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes

Hi, Success! Many thanks for your help and support. I used option 2 as recommended by you and all went well.
From Microsoft - (free) perform fresh clean Windows 10 installation (my recommended choice)
