HP ENVY x360 - m6-aq105dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I brought this laptop just 1 year and a month ago. Recently it has been running slow, and gets progressively worse with each power on.

HP ENVY x360 - m6-aq105dx

Core i7 - 7th Gen

Windows 10 64

Examples of slowdowns"

- My HP laptop (AMD processor) from 2010 turns on in about 5 seconds compared to 30 seconds of this laptop.

- Every YouTube video I play has a 5 second delay. Meaning the video freezes at the beginning of the video but the audio continues to play. (Same with reddit vids/gifs/etc.)

- Anything/Everything has a delay. Loading web pages, pictures, documents from internet and desktop.

- While trying to enjoy the World Cup, the mouse froze on the screen, freezing the video command prompts as well. The video and audio continued to work.

I mostly just watch Netflix, YouTube, & reddit or apply to jobs while using this laptop. I have only downloaded Microsoft Office and pdf readers. I once downloaded AutoCAD but uninstalled it shortly afterward.

I recently took it to Best Buy Geek Squad. They recommended I do a full restore. I did and nothing changed.

What can I do to make this laptop run faster?

I'm comparing it to my 2010 laptop and work laptop, and it's starting to feel like a waste of money.

@KEVLALOPRADO

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers & meet like minded tech enthusiasts!

As I understand the device is running slower each time you restart it,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did you run a diagnostic test to identify what the issue is about?

While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:

To resolve these issues and optimize your PC for faster performance, try HP Performance Tune-up : Click here

Also run a hardware test to ensure there are no hardware issues on the PC using the below steps:

  1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

  2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
  3. On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.

  4. Click Extensive Test.

  5. Click Run once, or Loop until error.

While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component are shown on the screen.

  6. If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) so you have it available when you contact HP Customer Support. The information is also available in Test Logs on the main menu.

Keep me posted with the results for further assistance,

For I (Or a trusted colleague) shall follow-up on this case to ensure the concern has been addressed,

And your device is up and running again, if you don't get back to us 😉

that said, If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

I ran the hardware test as run once and twice on a loop. No issues were found.

I will begin the HP Performance Tune-up soon to see if this helps with the slowdowns my laptop is experiencing.

@KEVLALOPRADO

Excellent news! 🙂

I'm glad that no hardware errors were reported by the test.

Sure, please feel free to reply as conveniently as possible.

As @Riddle_Decipher is out of the office today, I'm replying to you.

Take care! 🙂

The troublershooter didn't work, it just made the apperance terrible. I did a complete factory reset and cleaned out the driver. Seems to be working fine now. I hope it continues to work smoothly.

I went to my HP support assistant and saw many updates. Should I download these, listed in the attached photo.updates.png

My laptop is up to date and now the internet won't connect. Every device in my home connects to wifi with no hassle, except my laptop. The error message I receive is

"Your connection was interrupted"

"A network change was detected."

"ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED"

Also, no success on any updates from the HP Support Assistant. All recommended updates fail.

@KEVLALOPRADO

Thank you for responding,

This is the Riddle_Decipher, again!

It's great to have you back 😉

That's an error you receive on a browser, my guess is Google Chrome,
If not done already, please check if it works on IE or Mozilla Firefox.

And if the issue persists, try the below steps:

Solution 1: Flush the DNS settings

1) Enter cmd in the search box from Start. Then right-click on Command Prompt from result and select Run as administrator

2) When prompted by User Account Control, click Yes.

3) On the open black window, type or copy & paste the following command. Then press Enter on your keyboard.

ipconfig /flushdns

Now open your browser and try to access the website again to see if the error is solved or not.

Solution 2: Reset Internet Protocol

If flush your DNS settings didn’t solve the problem, continue to reset Internet Protocol.

Here’s how:

1) Enter cmd in the search box from Start. Then right-click on Command Prompt from result and select Run as administrator.

2) When prompted by User Account Control, click Yes.

3) On the open black window, type or copy & paste the following commands and press Enter on your keyboard after each.

netsh int ip reset netsh winsock reset

4) After it’s done, restart your computer and see if the error has been solved.

Solution 3: Clear the browsing data on Chrome

If you faced “Your connection was interrupted” on Chrome, clear its browsing data may also help you fix the error.

You need to do these:

1) Click the more options button at the top right of your Chrome. Then select Settings.

2) Scroll down on the open Settings page. Then find and click Advanced at the bottom of the page.

3) Proceed to scroll down to find and click Clear browsing data

4) On the open window, choose the beginning of time from the drop-down menu. Then click CLEAR BROWSING DATA.

Solution 4: Re-install your network adapter driver

“Your connection was interrupted” error could be also caused by the outdated or corrupted network adapter driver. If the solutions above didn’t help you, follow this solution to reinstall your network adapter driver.

1) On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key + R (at the same time) to invoke the Run box.

2) Type devmgmt.msc in the box and click OK.

3) Click to expand the Network adapters catalog. Then right-click on the network adapter your computer’s using and select Uninstall device.

4) Restart the computer and it should work. (as the driver would automatically reinstall).
