When my laptop switches on I get the endpoint controller error message. It's a relatively new laptop and I have seen in the forum this topic pop up several times. Is it a fault with the laptop and what's the fix. I've made sure to download the latest BIOS firmware but the message still appears.

Hi @HoHoH0,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how  it must be to see that HP Endpoint Security Controller error every time your laptop reboots.

To better assist you, could you please share:

  • The exact model number of your HP laptop
  • The Windows version you’re running (Windows 10/11, including build number if possible).
  • Whether the error appears before Windows loads or after you’ve logged in.

Here are a few steps you can try in the meantime:

 Update HP drivers and firmware

  • Even though you’ve updated the BIOS, make sure to install the latest drivers using HP Support Assistant or directly from the HP Drivers & Downloads page for your model.
  • Needs special attention to the HP Endpoint Security Controller driver and chipset drivers.

 Check Device Manager

  • Open Device Manager and look for any devices with a yellow warning icon.
  • If you see the Endpoint Security Controller listed, try right‑clicking → Update driver.

 Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Restart your laptop and press F2 to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run a system test to check for hardware issues.

 Reset BIOS settings

  • Enter BIOS (usually by pressing Esc or F10 at startup).
  • Restore defaults, save, and reboot to see if the error persists.

If the issue continues after these steps, it may point to a firmware or hardware fault

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
