I have no idea if anyone finally got theirs to work, but mine FINALLY is.
First- Update your bios from the HP website. Make sure you have your model# handy.
After it updates, hit WINDOWS+R and enter regedit.
(Your computer may or may not give you a popup warning.)
In your registry, you want to go Computer->HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-> SOFTWARE-> Microsoft-> Windows ->CurrentVersion ->AutoRotation
You want to double click the option for "Last Orientation".
When it opens, change the value to "1" and apply.
Restart the computer.
You HAVE to update bios and change the registry.
My "Rotation Lock" button is still uneslectable from my notifications menu and "Lock Rotation of this display" is still grayed out, BUT my laptop will auto-rotate when I put it in tent mode/ tablet mode now. If you want to stop this, you will still have to go back into the registry.
This is the only combination that has worked for me. Not sure if I'm a dumb-dumb and everyone else already figured this out, but I could not find a clear-cut solution anywhere.
I hope this helps/works for at least one other person.

simple alternative, shutdown your pc, fold to tablet position anytime you want to boot pc. This will fix the screenrotation and enabling/disabling of the keyboard when you later convert the laptop.
one more thing, remember to go to settings, tablet mode, when I signin and Use appropriate mode for my hardware.
