My hard drive has failed and system recovery does not seem to work. I would like to recover the data on the hard drive - assuming it is still accessible.
I am hoping that I can boot from a CD and then copy important files to a USB drive.
Unfortunately, I do not have a boot CD. Can I purchase one?
Where can I purchase a boot CD?
Will it allow me to save the files to a USB drive?

Hello
You can try several things in order to try to recover your data, I give some explanations here, but in French!
que faire en cas d' erreur / échec dst du disque dur - HP Support Community - 7338574
You can try a bootable cd / dvd type live cd (linux)

you can try removing the hard drive, in order to connect it to another computer internally, or with a usb adapter!

If your disk is not completely out of order, this gives you a small chance
