I just did a factory recovery due to a compromise.  I have no Audio.   Sound ID in the bottom right corner of the screen has a red X.  Does anyone have a resolution to this big problem.

Thanks!

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer, would be to try reinstalling the audio driver, restart the PC, and see if that fixes the problem.

This package contains the driver that enables the IDTHigh-Definition (HD) Audio in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.

I have just successfully done the same thing  - re-discovered this wheel for myself but found this conversation for feed back as follows.

Having updated to Windows 10 Creators one of several issues was the partial loss of my HP ENVY TS 17 Notebook PC's audio. It still worked but volume was low and quality tinny/ thin (whatever the source eg BBC iPlayer, other on demand TV, Youtube). Playing through Bluetooth devices and earphones the volume, tone quality was normal as per pre-upgrade.

After trying all sorts of trouble shooting advice, checking for driver updates (all up to date), I then decided to re-download audio driver from HP (still 2013) and re-instal.

YIPPEE it worked - all is back to normal (possibly better?). PLUS the Mute key LED on F6 at top of keyboard has started to work again after 2 years not working - double yippee!!!

After about two weeks I think (fingers crossed) I have now fixed the W10 Creators Dark Destroyer fall out all by re-downloading and re-installing (audio was the one remaining). Phew.
