HP Envy x2 11-g010nr

Left unpowered for extended period of time (years). On charger it starts up and goes to the Windows startup app screen. Even shows my old login name. Solid state drive for the win. However it does not respond to touchpad, screen, keyboard input. Does take a USB mouse input and USB keyboard. No wireless hardware found, no audio hardware found, etc.. In device manager I see a lot of "unknown device" under "other devices" but looks like a lot of hardware was lost. No network controller shown. Not even a battery, under batteries it only shows the AC Adapter. I will assume this is extensive driver issues? Any suggestions to resolve this? Is there a boot file/disc available for something of this age? It will be difficult to reinstall/update drivers if it does not recognize the hardware to be updated.

Hi:

The first thing you can do is to download this driver to a USB flash drive and install it. 

Intel/Realtek Chipset, Graphics, Camera and Audio Driver Pack

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63677.exe 

It probably contains most of the drivers you need..

Then you can install the wireless adapter driver:

Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver for Microsoft Windows 8

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64001-64500/sp64212.exe 

Then if any 'Other devices' need drivers, you can look up the hardware ID's for the devices and find the drivers you need from the support page.

Thank you. This got me part way there. The first set of drivers enables the touch screen, etc. And I have the battery icon back. But the wireless adapter driver set throws an error on attempted install (Setup.exe has stopped working). Is there an alternative driver set that can be used? Thanks.

Is there a device listed in the device manager labeled as a Network Controller, under that Other devices category?

If so, try manually installing the driver.

Download and install the free 7-zip file utility from the link below--32-bit file.

7-Zip

Right click on the Broadcom wireless driver exe file and select 7-zip from the list of items on the menu.

Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the file into its folder name (sp64212).

Once that is done, go to the device manager.  Click on the Network Controller device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the file folder that 7-zip created.

Make sure that the Include subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.

If there is no Network Controller device showing up in the device manager, something is probably wrong with the Wi-Fi adapter.
