Hi,
I just purchased my old laptop (an HP Folio 9470m) from my employer, which they re-imaged with the recovery partition so it came clean for me.
I wanted to create the recovery USB drive in order to be safe(r) but when I try to follow the instructions in this article I can't find the named Recovery Manager installed on my computer.
The only thing I can find is the HP Recovery Disk Creator which only attempts to create a DVD. And my Folio does not come with a DVD drive and neither I want to purchase an external unit.
I want to create the recovery image on a USB Flash Drive...
Any options to download the metioned HP Recovery Manager? I have searched the whole HP Forums but I can't find the link for the Windows 7 64bit version...
Thanks a lot in advance!
Xavier.

An option to consider is imaging software if you have an external usb hdd.

I have never used it but you can download the USB Recovery Creator from the page here:

Hi CherylG,
I get an error message just after selecting the USB Drive to which I want to burn the image:
Any ideas? My HDD partitions look like this:
So, in principle, the Recovery Image *should* be on the drive... Unless I am missing something?

The message looks like it is asking you to choose the source drive of Recovery files-not destination. Does it not let you select the Recovery partition? Try starting it without the usb flash drive inserted.

Hi Cheryl,
It did ask for the recovery drive. I tried as you said and gathered a couple of screenshots...
Here's the sequence:
- Welcome screen.
- Error that I don't have a USB Drive conencted at the moment.
- Explanation of the risk.
- Select the Drive (only E: at this point). It does not let me select other drive than the USB one...
- Error that the Recovery Image is not present.

Sorry it isn't working. Only conclusion I can come to is 1-the recovery partition is corrupt 2- the downloaded utility just doesn't see the recovery files for some other reason.
