HP Pavilion 15-P083sa
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hi. I have an old HP Pavilion 15-P083sa laptop which was given to me by a friend. It was working but has been in a drawer for eighteen months. When I try to power up, all I get are the three flashes repeating on the CAPS lock button. The CMOS battery was flat and has been replaced and I've tried the usual recovery routines.

I'm at the point where I need to recover the BIOS via USB stick. Due to the age of the machine, the necessary files appear to be missing from the HP repository now. Can anyone help with a copy of the BIOS and loader program please?

Thanks, Simon

Hi, Simon:

HP has retired support for the model series since it is more than 10 years old which is why you can't find any info on the support site.

Here are the info and exe file links to the latest BIOS update HP released for your notebook (F.57):

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp92501-93000/sp92961.html

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp92501-93000/sp92961.exe

Watch these videos for how to create and use a BIOS recovery flash drive with the above exe file using another Windows PC since yours is not working.

Hi Paul

Many thanks for that...the laptop is now up and running again.

Hopefully it will do what I need for a while to save recycling it and buying a new one.

Best wishes

Simon
