HELP Needed ASAP!!!
Did both the SHIFT, and F11 method on my HP Pavilion 15 Window 10, once I get to the screen it gives option to (Continue, Use a device, Troubleshoot, Turn off your PC). Once I select the Troubleshoot option it doesn't prompt to keep files or save them it goes directly into the Advanced Options Menu: (Startup Repair, Command Prompt, Uninstall Updates, UEFI Firmware Settings System Restore, System Image Recovery). ANY ONE with advice on how to fix please HELP ME ASAP.

Hi @Bou281713
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thanks for explaining everything so clearly—and I’m truly sorry you’re stuck at this stage. When your HP Pavilion 15 boots into recovery but skips the “Keep my files” option, it usually means the HP Recovery Manager is either missing or the recovery partition is damaged or inaccessible.
Let’s walk through a structured recovery strategy to help you regain control of your system.
What’s Happening
The absence of the “Reset this PC” option with file retention suggests:
- The HP Recovery Manager is no longer installed or supported.
- The recovery partition may be corrupted, missing, or not properly linked.
- Windows is defaulting to Advanced Recovery Options instead of HP’s branded recovery environment.
HP transitioned away from Recovery Manager in favor of Microsoft’s built-in tools, which explains why you're only seeing the advanced menu.
Recovery Options You Can Try
1. Use System Restore (If Restore Points Exist)
- From the Advanced Options Menu, select System Restore.
- Choose a restore point before the issue began.
- This won’t affect personal files but will roll back system changes.
2. Use Command Prompt to Trigger Reset
If “Reset this PC” isn’t visible, you can try launching it manually:
- From Advanced Options, open Command Prompt.
- Type:
systemreset - If that fails, try:
systemreset -cleanpc
If neither command works, the reset environment may be missing.
3. Use Windows Installation Media for a Clean Install
If recovery tools are unavailable:
- Create a bootable USB using the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool.
- Boot from the USB and choose Custom Install.
- Delete all partitions and install Windows to unallocated space.
You’ll lose all files unless you back them up first using a live Linux USB or external enclosure.
4. Check Recovery Partition Status
- From Command Prompt, type:
diskpart
list volume - Look for a volume labeled Recovery.
- If it exists, assign it a letter:
select volume X - assign letter=R
- Then check if it contains the recovery tools.
You’ve already done everything right—let’s get your system back in working order.
