HP Pavilion - 15-bc410nq
Linux

The notebook in question has a POP OS (Linux) installed, as it is free and works way better with it compared to Win10.

Without bothering past happenings: I wnated to install Windows 11 on notebook to try it out as it has many good reviews. I turned on TPM, also changed to SecureBoot in BIOS. When got to install part (from a Win11 22H2 version on USB stick) the program asked for missing HP driver to find the harddrives. I downloaded the drivers from the HP site for both Win 10 verions that are available, but none was accepted. They were on a second USB stick. I searched for solution and found many videos and descriptions that people copy or install the Driver files next or better say: inside the boot USB, but I could not do it since the Win11 Pendrive is a read-only bootable. I even tried creating an .iso by copying the Win11 files and the HP drivers, but then the notebook did not see it as a bootable USB installer.

Please help me out, if you have any other ideas or suggestions what can be done or set elsehow!! I only wish to have Windows installed.

Thanks you for all your help and answeres 🙂

I found the solution 🙂 I tried to use another USB, then looked for drivers on Intel (for the Pavilion) and on AMD (for the Victus) sites but to no success. Then I shut down everything and went "ZEN" by doing some gardening.

After I started my older computer (I have POP OS on it) I went to the beginning and made a new Win11 bootable USB with "Popsicle" which gave a notification: Windows bootables are not supported any longer.

Long story short: by installing WoeUsb via Snapd I managed to create a bootable USB which has no problem 🙂

Again... a mystery of Computer Science was solved at midnight (Budapest zone)

Thanks again and all are good now 🙂

Hi:

W10/W11 shouldn't be needing storage controller drivers in order to install on a notebook with an Intel 8th gen core processor.

That usually only happens when the notebook has an Intel 11th gen or newer processor.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if the driver that I zipped up and attached below works for you...

When you are at the screen that asks, 'where do you want to install Windows,' click on the Load driver option, browse to the second USB flash drive with the driver files on it.

If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.

Click Next, and hopefully W11 will install.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll right away check out the driver you attached. The thing bugs me more, since I bought a brand new HP Victus 16 s0001nh (8C2N5EA) notebook and things all the same. For the newer model there was no Storage driver at all on HP site. And in the install I do not even get to the point to see any drivers. Right after I click Install a window pops up saying similar to this: winstall.jpeg

I just found some posts saying that the only thing needed is to change the USB port, but it would be really akward if that was the way to do 🙂

I'll write soon 🙂

You're very welcome.

I've never seen that problem before, but notebooks with the Ryzen processors should not need any storage controller drivers to be installed during the Windows installation.

If that has changed, then I would have no idea where to find the storage controller drivers because none exist.

They use the default Micrsoft Standard NVMe controller driver.

Anytime.

Glad you were able to get Windows installed on both PC's.
