I tried that and there was no change. Still at 80% plugged in not charging.

Do hard reset your notebook.
Remove the battery and press and hold power button for 5 seconds then again press power button once.
(This method will release volatile memories)
Now insert the battery and reboot your system.

Try reinstalling the energy star program.

The simple trick worked on me

Check the adapter pin, the one which is connecting to laptop charging port. The pin in the adapter, inside it there is a small pin. At times it will be bend, and the power supply doesnt go to laptop. So with any plucker, make it straight. And then try to reconnect gently. It should work.
