Thank you for joining HP Forums.

I hope you haven't been too hard on her, as such things happen once in a while with little ones around and I'll be glad to help you out 🙂

If the computer is stuck on the "restarting, please wait" for as long as you've mentioned, it's possible an update was interrupted and now the windows OS isn't responding as it should be, here's what you could do:

Perform a hard reset after shutting it down by holding the power button in for 30 seconds, then follow the below steps:

  1. Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.

  2. Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.

  3. Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Turn it back on and it should be fine, if you have concerns, please reply with a few details such as:

When was the last time it worked?

What is the product number of your X2 notebook?

Have you attempted any other steps apart from what I've suggested?

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons, that’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!
Good Luck.

Hi there

Just wanted to say that I had the same problem with my laptop 'restarting' all the time - followed the advice here by Riddle_Decipher and within minutes I was up and running again

Brilliant; many many thanks.

Susan
