Hi,
I received a new laptop and after I configured Power-On Authentication and installed some updates, activated bitlocker, I restarted the client.
Then it asked for either a Password or my fingerprint
I configured 2 fingerprints - both keep failing
The only password I used on the laptop was my administrator password - Also keeps failing
And now I'm stuck, can't reinstall, cant do usbboot, I can't do anything anymore with the laptop.
How do I remove the security feature and be able to use my device again !?

Hello @GlennVdb
Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for posting!
Most business class notebooks (including yours Elitebook and Probook) have better security.
With regards to the power-on password - it cannot be removed here in the forum - you will have to contact HP Business Support for assistance on removing the password.
Here is how:
>> https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp
HP Business support should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file and instructions which you can use to reset the password. Note that assistance for such issues is usually free of charge for HP business class computers.
With regards to BitLocker - in order to bypass it - you will need to have your BitLocker encryption key to be able to deactivate BitLocker and boot to Windows. It may have been saved or printed during BitLocker setup. If you don't have the key, you will have to reinstall the operating system (full clean reinstallation or HP Recovery , depending on your Windows version/license)
Hope this helps. Please, mark the post as a solution if it helped.
Let me know if you face any difficulties.

I have exactly the same issue after modification of hp security under windows 10.
Fingerprint or password not recognized by hp power-on authentification!!
I'm in business trip with a laptop impossible to use. HP support not available in France.
Please there is another solution than the solution proposed by Glenn?
Thank you in advance for the help
