Hi,

Since yesterday, I’ve had issues with my Laptop. It was extremely slow until it went full black for a minute. I turned on the laptop again and there was a full blue screen with two options, turn off pc and Troubleshoot. I went on the HP Community to see what everyone else did when they had the same situation and they click TroubleShoot < Advanced Options < Personal Data, after I did that, a few downloads happened and i figured out that my Laptop had strangely factory reset itself, and I did not want it to. After those “downloads” happened, it took me back to the usual Home Screen when you power on your laptop, and my account was not there, only Administrator was. I proceeded to log in and then a pop up came saying, “HP Recovery Manager, Restoration Incomplete, The Restoration did not complete. Please select one of the following buttons: Save Log, Details, Retry”. I tried all the buttons and nothing seemed to get solved, however whenever I clicked Details, it always read “The process will cause CTO panic because the image might not be normal...” and it kept repeating below in separate lines along with another phrase “There might be unexpected reboot during [Windows Setup].” Everytime I click the exit button it restarts and takes me to the same page after logging in again. Please help!

Hi:

What operating system are you trying to restore?

Np g6's came with Windows 10, so the recovery manager is failing to install whatever operating system your notebook originally came with (Windows 7 or Windows 8, based on the exact model).

if you want to reinstall W10, you can make bootable installation media with the media creation tool from the link below.

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option.

Hi,

Thank you for your message, I will try doing what you said. Does it require a USB Drive and am I meant to just simply insert the USB while the laptop is powered on, or do I have to exit the HP Recovery Page. If I do have to exit the HP Recovery, you would have to tell me because I don’t know how to. If this method does not work, I will get back to you.

You're very welcome.

Press and hold the power button until the PC turns off.

Then after you create the recovery media, have the DVD or USB flash drive in the PC.

Turn it on or restart it.

Immediately press/tap the ESC key to get the menu of options.

Select the F9 boot options, menu and from that select the USB flash drive or DVD (as applicable) and press the enter key.

The PC should then boot from the installation media and Windows 10 should load the installation files.

Hi,

Thank you so much for your help. I will try this method as soon as possible. One last thing I need to know, how much memory does the USB/Disk Drive need?

HP Recommended

You're very welcome.

To make the bootable USB flash drive, you need an 8 GB drive.

To make the bootable DVD, you need a PC with a DVD burner that can burn dual layer DVD's and you would of course, need a dual layer DVD to burn the file to.  The ISO file will not fit on a standard 3.4 GB DVD.

I recommend the bootable USB flash drive.

Again, thank you so much for your advice and help, I will do this method in a few days and I’ll update you after I’ve done it.

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

I would make a plain Windows 10  on usb flash drive to install. MS offers a free tool to make it. Boot from it and when/if it asks for license key Skip or whatever option you have to move on with installation.

Update:

I’ve ordered a 64GB USB Drive as it may come in handy another time, it’s expected to arrive on Friday, I will next update you on Friday 🙂
