Girlfriend tried doing some sort of recovery roll back and botched it.
Just letting it boot without touching any keys other than the power button gives:
'An operating system wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system.
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart'
Hardware tests look fine.
Hitting <esc> upon boot gives me a startup menu, but the 'F11 System Recovery' just hangs on a black screen for many hours doing nothing but spinning fans and such. No dice there.
Ordered a 64-bit recover usb stick from the HP store that I boot into (from startup menu, F9 Boot Device Options, then picking out 'USB Hard Drive - Toshiba MSFT NORB' and booting from it) which gives me a Error box which states:
'This computer is not supported by the System Recovery Media.
You will not be able to continue to recover this system with these Media.
Error: 0130 - - ABA'
Stumped!

Sounds like you were sent wrong media. Try contacting HP by filling out the form on the page in link below. In the description be sure to tell them you just bought the media. After filling out click the Show options button.
