Look what I just found on the other HP Forum an admission of the error and another customer blagged off to wait , but here a promise that it would be sorted by beginning of May 2012 , however it is now nearing end of May 2012 and still no real answer !!!!!!!!
Well I have been looking around and look here
http://www.techyv.com/questions/error-occur-event-viewer-after-loging
Is this our problem ?
Remember my previous post where I said that during the install of HPSF all loaded OK ,with no errors , however looking in event viewer I found some entries saying that some of the dll's for HPSF had not been added to the GLOBAL CACHE , although they were in C:/Program Files(x86)/Hewlett-Packard/Shared , is it because although the files are there they are being ignored by the OS because it doesn't realise they are there or they are not registered correctly ? In the next link it suggests that there are a few places in the registry that these entries hide ( note the age of this it goes way back in time , so how come HP haven't fixed it )
Is this why HP is so keen for you to totally reinstall the OS , to guarantee that these entries are gone ? Bit of a poor show on HP's part if so ,as they know exactly where all these entries are as it is their software, and why haven't they fixed their update to make sure ALL previous HPSF dll entries in the registry are gone during the install of any UPDATE . If I had some old entries this would explain why the dll's did not register correctly! even though I did try a REGISTRY cleaner and used CCLEANER etc.
I will read this and have a trawl around in the registry as it does mention entries to look at, manually of course as I like to know how things work, and also so when I get my next BIOS/HPSF/HPSA/HPPA update I can fix the problems that it causes WITHOUT having to reinstall my OS 🙂
However today HP sent me a DIAGNOSTIC file to run on my PC to try and find where the issue lies so I am not going to do anything until they have finished trying to diagnose or they may get upset 🙂
But if you feel brave and want to clean out these reg entries after uninstalling HPSF and HPSA please do , then try a reinstall and see if the errors disappear , remember to check the Shared folder if you do and delete any dll's from HPSF that hang around after uninstalling , I would love to go back to HP and tell them that they need to fix THEIR F***UP and release some new versions of HPSF that clean the registry properly when updating from an older version.
I can't understand why they are dragging their heels if this is the case , hopefully this is it as the only other answer I can think of is that the BIOS is not answering the call correctly and if this is the case the chance of us all getting BIOS updates to fix this is about the same as the TAX man giving us a free tax year !!

Hi Dave,
Quick summary:
1. I have a HP ProBook 4520s. Running W7ProSP1(64bit) fully updated and .net 4. 320GB HDD partitioned C:\(System) and D:\(Data) no other OS exept for 2 Virtual Machines, a WXP-SP3 and a W98SE in VMw Workstation ver.7.1.1bld282343.
2. The fact that you are experiencing these issues on your original HDD from HP with W7ProSP1(64bit) (and the HP_TOOLS partition) and no other software, is what I wanted to know:smileyvery-happy:. Proves my piont about their lame solution they offered:smileymad:. (This info did make me happy):smileyvery-happy:.
3. As mentioned in the other thread I have HPSF=Disabled in Services. HP Services running on the machine: Connection Manager, Hotkey Monitor, Network Device Support, HPPA, Protect Tools Device Locking and Service and HPSupport Assistant. HP software installed: HP Advisor, HP ESU for W7, HP SoftPaq Download Manager and HP System Default Settings.
4. They have not mentioned the HP_TOOLS partition. They did send me the Diagnostics file too and upon receiving the log file that it generates, made the conclusion about my OS version being the problem which I am certain is not the problem after having gotten the info about your set up.
5. As you concluded that their are many views and no posts it looks like it will be up to the two of us to persue this further. I am going to peruse the links in your last post and will comment once done.
Sami.

Hi Dave,
The solution of using the sfc /scannow command has been mentioned by other contributors in related threads with no success and we have established that downloading the latest updates is also a waist of time.
Forcing an UnInstall with Tools on the Net is as dangorous as editing the registry as often parts of the OS are removed that appear not used but cause issues in the long run when they are missing. The same applies to PC Fixers and Turbo this and that. Although MS OSs have coding issues that are well documented the fixer software is often lacking too and takes shortcuts that will only come to light long time after one has forgotten about the issue one was resolving.
The entries in event viewer you found "saying that some of the dll's for HPSF had not been added to the GLOBAL CACHE" where they part of the installation process? Check if they where not resolved after a restart which HPSF needs to perform to register all.

Hi Renamo, let me say first it was very very late last night/morning ( I am in UK ) and my links were not correctly referred to by me, I was really tired + HP Support forum kicked me off just as I was saving the reply ( which was far more indepth ) and I lost the lot so the second reply that did save was shorter and far more succinct as I was a bit peeved off :smileyembarrassed: SORRY !!
In answer to your reply :
I wasn't refering to the sfc/scannow bit , THAT is a red herring in my mind as it's NOT MS software that is the issue here , so it would be pointless to do ,sorry I didn't make it clear it was very late ( It was 4 or 5 am if I remember ) when I posted that lot
, it was more a list of bitz to look at tonight, sort of a thinking out loud , I was refering more to the :
" The CaslWmi is a Dynamic-link Library file developed by HP. Most of the HP software needs to call this file. When it’s called and doesn't respond you get this error. " regarding CaslWmi errors
And response to the second bit , yup I agree with you and that is why I said I would do the registry searching by manual methods ,don't trust " Mr FixiT " BUT it does give you some useful areas to go start poking around , if you read through it beyond the advert for the software they are trying to push 🙂 it does mention specific keys to check , it was more these I was referring to.
And the last bit , I cleared ALL my HP software even my printer bitz as it's a LAN printer on my home network , then pulled ALL and EVERY left over bit of debris I could find on my PC that had any remote possibility of being HP related, then cleaned registry and did a CCleaner just to be sure. So I can definitely say YES these dll's were part of the install for HPSF, I even made sure that the " Shared " folder where they reside was completely empty before reinstall , and it was after the restart that the error in event viewer appeared.
I don't mind if I have to trash this copy of Win 7 to try and find a useable answer , I have an ACRONIS IMAGE of 7 before I began to play 🙂 so once I find the answer I can go back and fix the issue properly, it's more a case at the moment of where to start !!
The first link is interesting though don't you think 🙂 I may point HP tech to that when they try to bluff me off and ask their opinion on it 🙂
Haven't heard anything back from HP today , so I will wait
Looks as though it's just you and me mate, lots of views again I see but no one else is wanting to join in ??
@ Renamo3 Why have you got HPSF disabled ?? will this not guarantee you get errors as HPSF is needed by ALL the other HP software aparently or is this stopping errors ? Also are your errors specifically under the HPSF tab in event viewer or just in admin ??

On this website:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-drivers-software-forum/519991-popular-hp-notebook-software.html
(skip the advert at the beginning), there is a link to download HP Software Framework version 4.5.10.1 posted on May 11 2012.
This version hasn't appeared on the download page for my 8440p (currently 4.1.13.1).
I've not tried downloading it yet. Is anyone feeling adventurous?

I've found the May update to the Software Framework that has been referred to here:

Unfortunately , the 4.5.10.1 doesn't work for me , I found that also , but I did try it it will load fine, give it a go it may work for you. Although mine is listed it is not on the download page for mine , strange ?
This link shows which models it should work on,
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp56501-57000/sp56878.html
HP tech returned a message today re: my diagnostic test , saying he'd deleted it by mistake and asked for me to forward again, think they are stalling for time 🙂
@ MrPhilipTran , I have warranty and this LAPTOP is only 1 month old ,and I have plenty of time , WE WILL GET an answer and a FIX or they can replace my unit with a newer model that does work. I will make their life hell till I get what I paid for 🙂 when I pay 2000 pounds for a PC , I EXPECT it to work as advertised ,that's why I went for an HP ( and paid a premium price , MAYBE I should have gone for an ASUS or the new INTEL Laptop , for HALF the price and BETTER spec ???? ) and didn't buy a "no name" make as HP supposedly do stand behind their products !!!!! lol

Go look at this :
We have an HP employee on the case, maybe between him and HP tech we will finally see a resolution to this ??
