Even if Microsoft announces:

https://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-declares-windows-10-october-2018-update-fully-available-for-ad...

the Check for updates does not show 1809.

I think what we are waiting for now is for Intel to finish of their display drivers (they are still showing BETA on their website), release these to HP so they can certify them and push them out either via Win Update or the HP support tool that comes bundled with Spectre series of Laptops (it does in the UK anyway)

While this traditional method of "seeking" a major Windows 10 update appears to now be available, as of the time of writing, a number of blocks remain in place which means that not everyone will be able to get their hands on version 1809 if their systems are flagged for one or more of the following issues:

  • Incompatible Intel display drivers (versions 24.20.100.6344 and 24.20.100.6345)

Earlier today I received a call from an HP supervisor. I have to say it was a very pleasant conversation.

The bottom line is that he assured me that they have a lot of eyes on this issue and are working to resolve it. One direct quote from the conversation: “We aren’t going to have a premium laptop that won’t upgrade to the latest version of Windows”. He also mentioned that he had documented this threads contents and provided it to their engineers.

The fact that he acknowledged the issue and assured me they are working on it is really all I needed.  I think that if someone from HP had provided that information earlier there would have been a lot less customer frustration.

I did not ask when it would be fixed, I doubt they know yet, but they are working on it so at least we know a fix is coming.

Thank you for providing that update. Very reassuring to know and all we can do now is wait and know it's in hand. Good to know you had a good talk with HP and they are aware at a higher level within the org. 🙂

This thread starts on 3rd of October. Today is 18th of December. Now this is the first time we hear that HP has a lot of eyes on this issue, 55 days (!!!) after the first post. Sorry, this is not what I am assuming from a vendor of a premium laptop. This is more like a joke for me.

Not sure who/what changed but this morning my laptop updated to 1809.

Was that on a straight upgrade from 1803 ??

Did you have any driver updates before the upgrade? Did you upgrade via Windows Update Now?

HP Recommended

My update history shows that an HP Image update,  listed as 1/27/2016 40.1.1005.60817, was installed last night.  The date makes no sense since my computer is less than a year old.
