I have had my HP for about one year now. I am a college student who is mostly using my laptop for schoolwork and to attend my classes on Zoom. My workload is not heavy. About a month ago, I had noticed the fan was always on and for long periods of time, even when the laptop was asleep. I always kept it on hard surfaces and never on anything soft or fluffy such as a blanket. A week ago, I woke up to my laptop making a loud screeching sound (which I believe is becoming a common issue now) I was able to restart the system for it to stop. Now the laptop overheats to the point where it smells like burnt plastic, the keyboard and touchpad have stopped working because it is so hot. I have done some research and found out that Intel Core i7 11 gen runs hot and is known to have an overheating issue.
I have tried contacting HP several times but I keep getting the runaround. I really loved this product, but as a college student, I cannot be dealing with a malfunctioning laptop that is barely a year old. I want some help to deal with this issue.

Hi@mickm22,
Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!
I see you are experiencing Overheating issues with the HP Spectre x360 Notebook.
I have a few recommendations
- Update your Notebook computer to latest BIOS from HP.COM.
- Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
If issue persists then it is a hardware issue on the PC. As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now. I would request you to contact our HP Support Engineers and should be able to sort this out.
Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options.
Follow the instructions below to reach them:

3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
