HP Spectre x360 - 15-df0002na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After doing the latest Windows 10 updates (on 7th Jan), which came with 7 driver updates, my Laptop now has the BSOD on 3 out 4 for boot-ups. Mostly the error is System_service_exception and another points at ndis.sys.

Can anyone help.

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

I see that after the latest windows 10 update computer is not booting up,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps?

While you respond to that,
Try restoring the BIOS to default and check if it helps.

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
  3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
  4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
  5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
  6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Next, Perform a hard reset :

1) Shutdown the computer.

2) Unplug all the Adapter and peripherals connected.

3) Press and hold down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds.

4) Plug-in the Adapter.

5) Try to turn on the computer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I am not sure exactly what fixed it, but i did the following.

1. Updated the HP Hardware diagnostics tools as per the HP update software, which was released yesterday.

2. Ran an SFC /Scanow and this said it found and repaired corrupted files.

3. Updated the Computer from windows V1803 to V1809

After all of the above the system now seems to be working fine and quicker.

I will monitor it and see how it goes.

Thank you Echo_Lake for your help, but unfortunately it did not correct the issue.

The problem has re-occured, Even after the V1809 update the system installed 2 new driver updates and the BSOD is back, arrrggghhhh!!!!

I did a bios update to F21 i believe, this did not help.

Updated the Nvidia drivers to the latest

Updated the Intel WLAN and Bluetooth drivers to the latest

Tried to update the Intel 630 Graphics driver but i get an error as the installed one has been adjusted by HP.

So far it is running ok, but will test it more tonight

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, you can install the HP support assistant and keep the system up to date.

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
