HP Spectre x360 13-ac033dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So, I have this issue with my Spectre x360 where I will get these random freezes for a couple of seconds and the PC becomes unusable until I sleep/wake it, or reboot it.

I have fully updated Windows 10 Pro with newest drivers (and even installed the newest Intel AC 8265 as per some of the other threads) and the problem still persists - it's driving me crazy and unable to work.

I don't think it's a hardware issue as Ubuntu 17.10 works normally (though the touchpad support sucks in Linux) and rock solid without freezes. (although I could be wrong, since my thunderbolt component test failed in the HP UEFI PC diagnose - I rarely use thunderbolt tho, and it was never in use when I get the freezes)

I have recorded a short video to illustrate the problem (watch the mouse cursor and alt tabbing):

Thanks in advance!

Vedran

edit: I've performed an extensive system test from HP UEFI PC diagnostic software and it passed everything

Well, it's maybe fixed after I installed Intel HD drivers from their website (newest version at the time of writing this was 23.20.16.4877).

Keep in mind I had to manually uninstall all other drivers that Windows had for Intel HD and disable the automatic driver updating because it kept installing some version from 2016 (**bleep**).

I'll update this if it happens again!

Hi,

I have started experiencing a similar problem with my  HP SPECTRE X360 13-AC033DX (although I am running the original Windows 10 Home.

Fully updated, all tests pass.

When freezing, nothing shows up in task manager, and both touchpad and external Bluetooth mouse do not respond.

Thanks,

Duane

I didn't fix it yet, but I had freezes today while playing YouTube and it seems only the image freezes - I could still use my keyboard to pause the video, but I couldn't see anything moving or happening at all.

Graphics/graphics driver issues maybe? :smileyindifferent:

Hi,

Thanks for the tip! After installing graphics drivers from _Intel_, my issues of freezing and flickering upon wake-up have gone away.

Why doesn't the HP Support tool update these drivers? (A question for HP, not vkopanja)

Sincerely,

Duane

Nope. Forum software says: "Sorry, you can't give kudos for this post"

Maybe I don't have a high enough post-count.
