Exactly the same issues with the touchpad/trackpad. Very erratic and occasionally unresponsive touchpad which makes the touchpad almost unusable. This has been the case from day one. Carried out all the tests recommended above but none solved the problems. I also have now disabled 'taps' which had improved the performance of the touchpad but it's still a bit flakey.
It's obvious from reading all the comments posted on various web forums about the poor performance of the touchpad on this laptop that the touchpad is actually not fit for purpose. A big disappointment for such an expensive machine.

Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
