Hp Stream 11-d010nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Problem: Touchpad does not work.

My HP Stream 11 was acting a bit off after the Windows 10 upgrade, so I finally got around to do a clean install with Windows 10.

Everything works great now except the touchpad does not work at all.

Things that I've tried and other information:

- I have Google'd quite a bit and tried a lot of different 'solutions' on the threads I could find, none of which have worked. Most of the solutions are a bit older when W10 was still a preview and drivers were not available on the hp website like they are now.

- I have Model 11-d010nr and I installed all of the available drivers from the hp website, including the touchpad drivers that are listed.

- Windows Update installed "Synaptics - Pointing Drawing - Synaptics HID Device - Synaptics Pointing Drawing software update released in July, 2015" with no change.

- There are no unknown devices in device manager.

- There are no "Mice and other pointing devices" listed under device manager besides my logitech mouse I have plugged in.

- 'Synaptics' is not listed anywhere under programs. Even after trying 4 different synaptics driver/software installation files that proceeded through installation and said 'complete'. There is a folder labeled 'Synaptics' with the following subfolder "C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP" but just two .ini files inside.

- Tried drivers from Synaptics site, no change.

It seems like the touchpad doesn't even exist in the computer hardware. So I can't uninstall a bad/incorrect driver for it, can't see that it doesn't even have a driver, etc.

Thanks in advance, really need the touchpad!

Hi, I did a fresh install of Windows 10 on my Stream 11 also and the touchpad did not work after the installation until I installed the chipset drivers from the hp.com site.  I am not sure why that did not work for you.

Actually, I think I only installed the chipset drivers and not the touchpad driver so maybe that was the difference.

Amazingly, I went through installing all the chipset drivers AGAIN, replacing old files, and with two of them replacing newer versions that had been installed with Windows update, and it WORKED! Thank you!

Reinstalling the "Intel Serial IO Driver without Connected Standby Support" Version "603.9600.1948.29470 Rev.A" got the touchpad working after restart.

I wonder if I ran the drivers, but then Windows Update installed a 'newer' version over top before I restarted. So it nullified any changes I had made?

Next Question: How do I get two finger scrolling and other functions to work? I tried installing the Synaptics touchpad drivers now but it doesn't do anything.

Thank you very much!

Great, I'm glad that worked.

Yes, I noticed the 2 finger scrolling was not working, just the basic touchpad functions.  I have mostly been using a bluetooth mouse with mine so I have not tried to fix it but it would be nice to have.

UPDATE: The fix for the gestures seems to be installing the Windows 8.1 touchpad driver from hp.com: Synaptics Touchpad Driver 18.1.29.0 Rev.A 77.7 MB Sep 3, 2015.

It fixed my Stream 11 with Windows 10, gestures work now.

Awesome!

Found it under the D020NR not the D010NR like mine, but it worked.

Thanks again for the continued help!

Use a USB mouse and go to device manager and uninstall the Synaptics driver then SHUTDOWN, NOT REBOOT your computer. Once shut down, remove the USB Mouse and turn your computer back on. Presto! Your mouse will be working again once it reinstalls it automatically. I have done this on several that have come through here and never see them come back for this issue.
