Hi everyone,

Has anyone noticed that HP Support Assistant will NOT install on the latest Windows 10 Enterprise 20H2 build 19042.685

The SP107298 runs with no errors, it does install HP's support framework and ends with the normal "HP Support Assistant is now installed" only it isn't nowhere to be found. I checked its usual location but it isn't there. There's only one DLL in the "framework" folder where normally HP Support Assistant executable is found.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Hello @Boyan

With an enterprise grade device and operating system, I would recommended that you use HP Image Assistant instead of HP Support Assistant.

I am not aware of HP Support Assistant not working on Win 10 20H2. Have you downloaded the latest version 9.6.870.0 ?

if you prefer troubleshooting it,

  1. Download and run Revo Uninstaller Free Portable app to complete more in-depth removal of the program and its left overs. Download the portable version >> https://www.revouninstaller.com/products/revo-uninstaller-free/
  2. Run its setup
  3. Start Revo Uninstaller Free
  4. Find HP Support Assistant and proceed to remove it
  5. Do the same for HP Support Framework (or anything HP Support related)

Note - watch this tutorial about using Revo Uninstaller >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgSJkd11voM

Make sure that at the end of the program un-installation you also perform ADVANCED scanning and remove any registry and folders leftovers

6. Restart your computer - here are instructions how to do it >> https://www.digitalcitizen.life/7-ways-shut-down-or-restart-windows-10-pc-or-device

7. Download and run the free Wise Registry Cleaner from this location >> https://www.wisecleaner.com/wise-registry-cleaner.html

8. Start Wise Registry Cleaner and perform Deep scanning - remove all errors it may find.

9. VIsit this link and re-download HP Support Assistant >> https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html

10. Reinstall HP Support Assistant and see if it will work for you
