HP Slim Desktop - S01-aF0134z

HP System Notification says Excessive system clutter detected on my Windows 11 HP desktop.  I have run all of the tests on the HP Support Assistant and no problems were detected. Why does the notice keep popping up?

Hi @yorkiemom5,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "Excessive system clutter detected" notification on your HP Slim Desktop likely refers to unnecessary files or data on your system that could affect performance. While the HP Support Assistant may not have flagged any issues, the notification may indicate that there are temporary files, cache, or other types of "clutter" that could be cleaned up.

Here are a few things you can try to resolve the issue.

Use Disk Cleanup:

  • Press Windows + S and type "Disk Cleanup."
  • Select the drive you want to clean (usually C:).
  • Click "OK" and select the types of files to delete, such as temporary files, system files, and Recycle Bin contents.
  • Click "OK" and then "Delete Files" to confirm.

Clear Temporary Files:

  • Press Windows + R, type temp, and press Enter.
  • Delete all the files in the folder that opens.
  • Repeat the process for %temp% and prefetch folders by typing these paths into the Run dialog.

Run Storage Sense:

  • Go to Settings > System > Storage.
  • Turn on Storage Sense, which will automatically clean up temporary files and system cache periodically.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Ensure that no third-party applications are triggering the notification. You can check this by disabling or uninstalling any third-party software that may be claiming system clutter.

HP Support Assistant Settings:

  • In HP Support Assistant, navigate to Settings and check if any notifications are set to trigger alerts about system performance. You may be able to turn off the clutter warning there.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
