Hi community, from past few weeks I am having this issue with my HP Victus laptop(Intel 5, 12th Gen). It works fine when it's connected to the charger, but as soon as I disconnect it will work for 12-15 mins and will then randomly restart. This will happen continuously until I connect it back to the charger and will be much more frequent at low charge. Seeing the system logs it's the Event 41 error and a sequence of event that happens always before it reboots like the event 27, 30, 20. Your help will be very much appreciated.

Hi @Sunshine69420,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I'm sorry to hear about the random restarts you're experiencing with your HP Victus laptop—it must be frustrating to deal with this issue, especially when you rely on your device for productivity. Let's try to narrow down the problem and resolve it.

  • Have you noticed if the battery life has significantly reduced recently, or does it seem to drain faster than usual?
  • When the laptop restarts, do you see any error messages, or does it go straight to the Windows login screen?
  • Have you made any recent changes to the system, such as installing updates, drivers, or software, before this issue began?

Let's try these steps.

Check the Battery Health:

  • Open the HP Support Assistant or BIOS diagnostics to perform a battery health check. If the battery is failing, it could cause instability when running on battery power.

Update BIOS and Drivers:

  • Go to the HP Support website and check for BIOS updates or any system-critical driver updates. Outdated firmware or drivers might cause such issues.

Power Plan Settings:

  • Ensure your power plan settings are configured correctly. Go to Control Panel > Power Options, and check that no aggressive power-saving settings (like shutting down critical hardware) are enabled.

Run a System Diagnostics Test:

  • Restart your laptop and press F2 or Esc repeatedly to access the diagnostics menu. Run a full system test to check for hardware issues, especially focusing on the battery and power-related components.

Check Event Viewer for Detailed Logs:

  • Open Event Viewer (Windows + S, type "Event Viewer"), navigate to Windows Logs > System, and review the details of Event 41, Event 27, Event 30, and Event 20. They may give specific information about what is causing the shutdown (e.g., driver crashes, hardware malfunctions).

If the issue persists, it might be related to a hardware fault, such as a failing battery or internal power circuitry, and contact HP Phone Support or the service center for further options.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi Elohi, thank you for answering my query.

I will answer your questions.

Have you noticed if the battery life has significantly reduced recently, or does it seem to drain faster than usual?

Ans. No, not when fully charged the System will reboot but there will be no significant change in battery. But when it's below 65-70% there will like 20-30% drain sometime and the duration between 2 reboots will be much smaller.

When the laptop restarts, do you see any error messages, or does it go straight to the Windows login screen?

Ans. No, it goes straight to the login window. Only once there was a blue screen error but it resolved itself even before I can look into it. That also happened when the battery charge was low.

Have you made any recent changes to the system, such as installing updates, drivers, or software, before this issue began?

I don't remember such information. Sorry for that.

Please help me resolving this.

Your help will be very much appreciated.
