HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p245sa (ENERGY STAR)

Switched on laptop, no problems previous day. Had blue screen and error code OXC000007b. Did fast system test and extensive test no problems showing. Have not backed up so do not want to do system restore yet. Please advise as laptop purchased in 2015 no warranty.

Hello @LynnS19

You can remove the current hard drive and install a new one. It depends on which drive was used

(1) mechanical 2.5" hard drive

(2) SSD drive

...

Nothing will happen to your data. Later you can use adapter (USB-to-IDE/SATA) to access your data.

Hello @LynnS19

Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... and I would like to help you.

You need another computer to prepare <usb flash drive>

Thank you for your message. I did reply but I think I used the incorrect ‘reply’ button. I do not have my password for Microsoft and my new password for HP is not working on blue screen messages. I should have spare  laptop within a few days so I will attempt to change MS password.
Sorry  I cannot follow the links you provided as I cannot get past the blue screen to access internet.

I am also concerned if I update software/drivers will I lose all my files as I have never backed up to cloud.

Can these be saved to usb with only blue screen visible?

Thank you for your time.

Hello @LynnS19

Your notebook has:

Hard Drive
1 TB 5400 rpm SATA

Replace hard drive and buy this for better performance !

Thank you for your help and advice.  Unfortunately this was out of my expertise so a friend did as you said, on my behalf, by backing up files.  Reinstalled Windows and my files after laptop reset.  All working fine now thank you.  Still not sure what could have caused it as he said even recovery software also seemed to be corrupted.

I will now try to learn how, and remember, to back up my files.

Many thanks Lynn
