I tried to boot from an iso downloaded from the first link you gave me, which failed on multiple usb drives. Do I have to boot from a dvd?

HP Recommended

1-Define failed- any error messages, or simply refuses to attempt to boot, ???

2-Are you creating the USB drive properly- I assume you know you can't simply copy the iso to the flash drive?

3-You should be able to boot from usb- are you tapping F9 key immediately after powering on and selecting usb?

1-There are no error messages, it simply refuses to boot from the USB and goes straight into the hp recovery. I have selected it from the boot menu, and named it as number one in boot order in BIOS.

2- I believe I am, as I have done this before, I am using win32 disk imager to image the ISO onto my flash drive.

3- Yes i am tapping esc as prompted and selecting USB as the boot disk

I have also tried to boot from USB on another computer, and it simply doesn't recognise the usb as a bootable. I don't have a clue as to what is going on, I think I am doing everything right.

Thanks so much for your help!

Edit: Clarified what it does when attempting to boot

I have better results using Rufus: https://rufus.akeo.ie/

I have successfully installed a linux distro in the meantime, so it is possible to boot from USB, and after using Rufus for the ISO, I successfully installed Windows. Thanks for all of your help!
