So over the months, my victus fans have gotten really slow even when i put it to max in omen (i thought it maybe because of accumulated dust which i haven't cleaned yet) but today i updated my bios to f.24 and noticed that the FANS WERE SPINNING AS FAST AS THEY USED TO WHEN THEY WERE NEW. Are they using phone slowing strategy in laptop fans now?? So that laptop heats more damages more gets wrecked fast we buy new laptop fast and they make money fast fast??

Hi @akhand36

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Your observation is really interesting!

HP does not or never has an option to deliberately slow down fans over time;

BIOS updates can sometimes adjust thermal management settings, which might explain why your fans suddenly started working at full speed again.

A few possibilities to consider:

  • Dust buildup: Over time, dust can clog the cooling system, reducing airflow and making fans less effective. Cleaning the vents and fans can restore performance.

  • BIOS updates & fan curves: Manufacturers sometimes tweak fan behavior in BIOS updates to balance noise, performance, and longevity. Your update may have reset or optimized the fan curve.

  • Power & thermal settings: Some laptops dynamically adjust cooling based on power profiles. If your system was previously running in a quieter mode, the update might have restored a more aggressive cooling profile.

If you want more control, you can check BIOS settings or HP Command Center to see if there are adjustable fan speed options. Also, keeping an eye on temperatures post-update will help confirm whether the change is beneficial.
