My laptop froze during automatic repair while repairing disk issues (no movement in over five hours). It has not booted successfully in over 12 hours and was hard reset due to freezing.

 

I’ve run diagnostics and I’ve had a short DST failure with reference 9snd5g-7L1AGW-XD7WL1-60UC03

 

What do I do now?

You will need to install a new hard drive, and reinstall the operating system in order to fix the problem.

 

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

You may want to consider replacing the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a better performing 2.5" solid state drive (SSD).

 

After you replace the drive, you can reinstall W10 for free by making bootable installation media using the media creation tool from the link below.

 

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

 

If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option.

 

After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.
